Shannyn has over 27 years of experience working with people as they expand, shift and create sustainable social change individually and collectively.
She has worked with children, youth, families, couples, groups and institutions in supporting the advancement of practicing and cultivating compassion as the most important tool and building block to utilize in grounding sustainable healing and change. Shannyn has been working with the Somatic Experiencing© modality since 2013 and uses somatic practices as a means for liberation.
You can expect from Shannyn that your “entire self” is welcome! She will work therapeutically and somatically with what you bring. Expect your wounded places to be respected, handled with care, and provided with skillful clinical attention and presence.
Since 2010, Sharon has taught/facilitated classes and groups while working on projects in the realms of education, building antiracist and identity affirming mental health practices, developing gender equity in communities, and faith-based learning. Sharon currently supervises social workers and is building their sound healing practice.
In their free time, they obsess over nerdy things like relational cultural theory, their next foodie adventure in San Antonio and how trees look like broccoli from a distance.
Using an holistic approach, that includes somatic experiencing and sound healing, Sharon meets their clients and students where they’re at to develop critical consciousness and relational praxis in healing work. Sharon is fond of using psychoeducation, experiential learning, critical questioning techniques, and mindfulness practices as means for empowerment in their therapy sessions.
Debbie is experienced in serving adults who are working towards trauma recovery, stress management, and emotional balance. They utilize somatic informed tools such as EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) and are trained in EMDR therapy.
Debbie takes an eclectic approach to therapy meaning that they full from a variety of therapeutic models such as DBT, CBT, and ACT.
In her own words, “I believe that everyone already has what they need to emotionally grow and thrive within themselves. My goal is to help people better access these resources by guiding them on a journey to self-connection, self-trust, and self-compassion.
Coming from a strengths based perspective, you can expect Debbie to acknowledge and celebrate your growth moments, regardless of how big or small they are. You can also expect Debbie to honor you as a human being deserving of respected boundaries, informed care, and transparent communication.
Kim is dedicated to providing resources, guidance, and support to empower individuals in making informed decisions and positively impacting their communities. Kim utilizes an anti-oppressive framework and systems theory to approach mental health issues, ensuring that her practice is inclusive and considers the broader social and systemic factors affecting her clients' well-being. Outside of her professional life, Kim enjoys collecting plants and spending quality time with her dogs.
Kim collaborates with you, recognizing you as the expert of your own life, while providing guidance and practical tools. She challenges you in a way that validates your feelings and experiences but also holds you accountable for your actions, fostering personal growth and empowerment.
Kim sees children and young people between the ages of 5-17 as well and young adults ages 18- 25.
David takes a relational approach to his work as a counselor. That means challenging the stories that tell us our problems are ours to figure out alone. David walks alongside clients as they cultivate personal authenticity and meaningful, mutual connections with others. David draws upon nearly 15 years of experience as a licensed counselor, working in a variety of settings including substance use recovery, private practice, and higher education. David is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor and is available for clinical supervision of LPC-Associates licensed in the state of Texas. David is currently enrolled as a doctoral student in Counselor Education and Supervision Ph.D. at The University of Texas – San Antonio, working to bring queer, relational research and practice to counselor training. When outside the office, you can find him biking around town, tending to or admiring gardens, or curating playlists for friends.
Education
Sessions with David include warmth, humor, metaphor and creative expression, open communication, and collaboration to set attainable goals for change. David’s relational approach may include assessing social supports, learning interpersonal skills, building emotional awareness, and self-compassionate practices. David admires and celebrates the creativity, lived experiences, and cultural, contextual wisdom client’s call upon to navigate their way through life.
David works with adults 18 years and older.
